I read this book to counter the unpleasantness of It Ends With Us. It's fine, a quick read, but not really all that engaging. Cheesy. More than a few times I rolled my eyes. I love Atlas as much as the next person, but his portrayal is just so over the top. Nonetheless, I'm glad Lily got her happy ending. The supporting characters (Lily's mom, Allysa, Theo) are the best characters.I read this book to counter the unpleasantness of It Ends With Us. Tricky book to review. I read it quickly because it quite compelling and draws you in, but it is quite unsettling. I think the author did a good job examining the complexities of abusive relationships, but now that I'm finished, I just do not feel good. I really wouldn't recommend this book to any of my friends. But I wouldn't necessarily tell them not to read it.
I read that It Starts With Us is quite a bit lighter, so I'm going to read it to see how all the characters end up, and hopefully I feel better. :)Tricky book to review. I enjoyed this book. A quick, easy read. Likeable characters. All the loose ends tied up neatly by the end. Perhaps a bit fantastical that Elizabeth was so far ahead of her time, but an endearing protagonist that you can’t help but cheer for. Apple TV is making it into a tv series, so I guess I have to get Apple TV now…. 😀I enjoyed this book. A quick, easy read. Likeable characters. All the loose ends tied up neatly by the end. An enjoyable book. I would, at times, skip Ira to continue with Luke and Sophia, and then go back to Ira. I thought it a bit long, but an easy enough read. I look forward to watching the movie to compare movie to book.

Quite a good read. Well paced, likeable characters, descriptive. A few twists and turns, some you might figure out, but I doubt all. My first book by this author, and will check out her other work as well.

Quite interesting. The first half seemed to drag, but it was an easy enough read that I kept at it. The second half really turned up the pace, and was quite gripping. That it is fiction based on fact is disturbing. All those poor souls subjected to such a horrific treatment is beyond comprehension.Quite interesting. Interesting. A well written and sympathetic account of an amazing escape from society. A quick read that was quite fascinating to read about someone who chooses to walk away from everything, but left me with an overall sense of sadness.. for the hermit, his family, the author, and all the people who he stole from for so many years.Interesting. Entertaining! Great cast of characters, fairly well paced plot. Humour, and, of course, fight scenes. I'm not your typical Marvel fan, and the fight scenes are usually a good time for a quick nap or to get more popcorn, but these fight scenes were dynamite! A nice continuation of the Book Woman’s family saga. Honey is a likeable and admirable character. Quite a bit happening, and several new characters introduced in this book. More character development and a more complex plot would have made this book much better.
I had to keep reminding myself that this book was based in 1953. The backwards laws and attitudes are horrific to be from such recent history.A nice continuation of the Book Woman’s family saga. I thought Molly was a great character from the very first line. The book was interesting and kept me reading. I enjoyed it, right up to when they started to figure out the mystery. Then it became a little ridiculous and a few things happened that were a stretch for me to believe based on the characters involved. All in all, not a bad read, but a few things that just didn't sit well with me.
