Treaty 7 Language Resources

Language holds stories, histories, and connections, and contributes to one’s identity and sense of belonging. The resources included in this list celebrate and support the revitalization of traditional Indigenous languages of Treaty 7 Nations. This list includes resources for all ages to help you learn or enhance your knowledge of the languages of Treaty 7 Nations: the Siksika, the Kainai, the Piikani, Stoney Nakoda, Tsuut’ina, as well as the Métis Nation. While these are some excellent written resources, speaking with and listening to someone and engaging in the oral component of language is key to learning. Check out Calgary Public Library’s Indigenous Languages Resource Centre and the Elders’ Guidance Circle to learn more.
