Quirky, with a sarcastic and understated sense of humour, a both personal and societal conflicts. It's a good tale, with some of what sci-fi and fantasy does best: addresses issues through a paranormal lense: this one: racism and tolerance. If you like a book about how family drives you crazy, how friends (the good ones) are there for you, and how a single decision snowballs into something you've never expected: well, it's for you!
