While I appreciate the author's eye-opening statements on fluency, I really felt that apart from that and the couple of hints for memorizing words, this book really did little else for me. (Because this book does not have "Characters, etc." My review is going to be a little different.) WHAT DOES IT SAY?: This book mainly stresses the difference in definitions of fluency and that you should practice daily. (We knew that, right?) It also goes through the different levels of fluency and A, B, and C fluency HOW DOES IT HELP?: I found that apart from the things mentioned above it told me little else that I could use right now. Although it does confirm my belief that you don't need Rosetta Stone in order to learn a language. Use that money to buy food. HOW DOES IT NOT HELP?: It didn't really not help, just made me sad that you have to invest A LOT of TIME, ENERGY, and MONEY into learning a language in three months. Ah well. This book is how to become fluent in any language in three months, and if you think you're going to become fluent in ~92 days by just doing a Duolingo exercise, you're wrong. The fact that immersion is one of the best ways to learn a language means that you have to spend money on buying things like, "Harry Potter" translated into Indonesian, which I honestly don't have that extra cash lying around.
