The Siege of Jerusalem by Connor Kostick is one of the most interesting and exciting history books I've ever read, and I've read a lot. The details of the tactics, combat and situation for the crusaders is delicious. The lead-up and siege itself are described in a way that grips the reader and makes you want to retell the stories to your friends. It also gives the reader a clear understanding of how the mayhem and slaughter in the city occurred due to problems with the self-serving Byzantines interfering in the Anatolia battles. The details on the fighting are wonderful. I'm going to read this book again if not a few times. It's good if you like history, drama between cultures and personalities, and military tactics.
