Having traveled the globe for NPR reporting mostly scenes of misery, self-described grump Weiner embarks on an intriguing journey to find the world's happiest places. Instead he finds happiness in conformist Switzerland, chaotic Thailand, sunless Iceland, and undeveloped Bhutan, among others, in this absorbing mix of travelogue, social science, and self-help.
