Mary Gauthier has been around for sometime, and has written some pretty good songs along the way, and this Grammy nominated release might be her best. This was a brilliant idea to wed the emotions and thoughts of Iraq war survivors with Mary's songwriting and playing, the Vets aren't songwriters and she hasn't experienced war/military life, but what they have done together is pretty powerful stuff.
If you like this, please do check out her previous releases,Filth & Fire 2002, Mercy Now 2005 or The Foundling 2010 (the last one to my mind is like a raw nerve, where she deals with wanting answers to her being an orphan),all very fine releases, and I expect more of the same in the future.
