You definitely do NOT need to be a golfer, or even very interested in golf to enjoy this movie. It is so good: wonderful re-enactment of the 1860s and 1870s. Fascinating to learn so much about this period in British (Scottish + English) social and sporting history. In another film ("Denial") a lawyer states, "Britain is a club; David Irving [Holocaust Denier] is trying to become a member." "Tommy's Honour" is all about Tommy Morris breaking into the club of rich golf patrons, who consider themselves Gentlemen, whereas Tommy is from the Caddy class. Excellent acting. Lovely accents!
