Terrible. I have rarely seen less chemistry than that which the director wants us to believe is simmering between Hugh Grant's and Marisa Tomei's characters. The ending will make you think you looked out the window at a squirrel, then looked back at the screen, and missed some key moment. You could have. But still wouldn't have missed anything.

As an English major, I probably appreciate this movie more than I would otherwise. Hugh Grant's character is frustrated that he's unable to sell any screenwriting pitches and is absolutely depressed that he has to settle for teaching screenwriting in order to make any money. Grant is flawed and extremely unlikable at first, but as the movie progresses, viewers will see him in a new light just as he sees teaching and his students anew. The romance I care little about; for me, it's all about the love of creative writing.

Very nice. A good story with a good flow. It's a fine movie regardless of the clichés and predictable ending. It may not be an Academy nominee material but it's catchy enough to watch. Hugh Grand and Marisa Tomei are fun to watch, they are both experienced stars to handle any kind of role. The other best thing about this flick; no violence or killing.

Ok, if you compare it to Hugh Grant's now *classic* roles that are modern favorites, this one doesn't hold up. But, if you take it at face value, it's a nice, light movie with a phenomenal cast of characters and a pleasant romantic comedy. It's entertaining. I'm also just a bit of a sucker for *teacher* movies, so it works for me. The ensemble cast of Marisa Tomei, Allison Janney, Chris Elliott (the least obnoxious I've ever seen him), J.K. Simmons, and some other sweet, fresh faces all lent some really wonderful and funny moments to the story. And Hugh Grant, well, he was Hugh Grant (maybe not at his finest, but endearing, smart, out-of-place, and entertaining.) Give it a chance on a rainy day to brighten your day just enough.

Put three to five clichés in a blender and mix. It's OK; keep your expectations low.

Fun, but not great.

We watched this movie during yesterday's terrorist attacks on Paris...it is just what the Doctor ordered...a light, fun distraction - an antidote for the real world.

Fun in a distracted sort of way. Not much action, not much else.
