This series keeps the viewer on pins and needles from episode to episode; very unpredictable. I found myself sitting on the edge of my chair a number of times. One commenter complained about the editing. I think this was edited in this way on purpose, to add to the mood and "urgency" of the plot. Cinematography first rate.

Gave up after watching the Pilot. Terrible acting, dialogue and special effects. Watch "Fortitude" instead - same concept but a million times better.

the others have it wrrong!!! Ifirst caught this show by accident at 6:00AM and was mesmerized. I cancelled my plans and watched the entire marathon. The tv guide description did not do it justice. Not only was season one awesome, but the set up for season two was Far F***ing Out! My cable was cancelled and so far I've only seen the first three episodes, but they exceed my expectations. I had to put in my twocents' worth review because the other reviews were so negative and inaccurate. Give it a chance!!!

Series 1 held my attention just fine. I was a little afraid it was going to be the take-off into yet another zombie series, but the complexity was maintained. So... if not a zombie thing, then I'd be really interested in watching the dvd of Season 2. Thanks!

Having seen that this series was renewed for a second season I was really excited to see this. Boy was I disappointed. It reminded me of the old Canadian movies from the 70's or 80's, with the way it was filmed and the acting. First of all, whoever edited this film should be fired. The slicing of the film was off in several areas. If a person turned their head you would see several still like shots of movement. As far as the show itself, it was slow and the acting wasn't all the great. It didn't have enough of an interesting plot that made me want to sit and watch several episodes all at once. This is nothing like mysterious quality of Lost which the other reviewer stated. Thankfully this is a library borrow and so it didn't cost me anything except my time.

HELIX is hellish. It gets its DNA from 'Alien', 'Contagion', 'The Andromeda Strain' and 'The Thing'. Full of people who look like they got their start on daytime soaps, it's altogether boring and a great example of how uninvolving a series can be, even with a great premise.
