Perhaps it was Jane Austen's sentimentality that turned off Twain from her writing, but it certainly hasn't stopped readers old and new from picking up her classic novels about love and relationships.

Who could forget Mr. Bennett? His delightful sarcasm, deep love for daughter Lizzy, and longsuffering patience with his wife's antics makes him one of the most beloved fathers in literature.

Not a 2016 title, clearly, but when I saw this edition on display at the library it was literally radiating a glow from an inner source of light.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. Filled with Jane Austen's signature wit and cutting social commentary, it is so easy to see yourself in her characters and wish yourself in the story that this book requires not a yearly, but a bi-yearly reading. The only thing you'll be left wondering is "where can I find a man like Mr. Darcy?".

I thought I'd Hate this book. And man I was SO wrong. I read it in seventh grade over a period of about six weeks and Then I got to scream at the movie for being slightly different, but besides that, I had a blast reading it, laughing at it, and complaining about. It's such a surprising novel. It's got humor, it's got romance (duh) and it's just such a great classic for both guys and girls. It's amazing, so just stop reading this comment and go read this novel.

I thought this was a little too long but overall I liked it.

This is a novel you can read over and over again and never get bored with. Elizabeth Bennet the protagonist of the novel is a timeless classic character who was the second daughter in the Bennet family with a really strong-willed and intelligent disposition. She was one of the most well-known female characters in English literature. I believe everyone who reads this novel will fall in love with this beautiful love story worth reading.

One of my favorite books of all time. Elizabeth is so very human, so lovable, so easy to identify with! And Darcy, of course, grows on one the more one reads about him. To say nothing of the characters one "loves to hate" (Mrs. Bennett, Lady Catherine, Mr. Collins). How I wish Jane Austen had lived longer ... Imagine the genius that would have come out of that woman. She develops character with the wisdom of a highly seasoned writer, weaving romance, intrigue, and wonder all into this one very dashing tale.

Don't think of this as a typical, fluffy romance novel. It is not that at all. If you're still not sure, read the first few pages. I can almost guarantee you'll be hooked.

Everyone should read this book. Nothing is forced, the writing is beautiful, and Austen's irony works well with the novel. I love it at fourteen, but the language is challenging. Interesting story and look into the delicate politics and social expectations of the Regency era.

Pride and prejudice is a wonderful book and I find it captivating because of how they expressed themselves and how they can contain their emotions. It's a lovely book with a amazingly twisted plot. The only fault I think it has is that in the book, usually, when it refers to a Bennet sister, it is written: Miss Bennet, even though they're are five sisters, so as you can imagine, at the beginning of the book I was a little confused. As I said, wonderfully written book. The characters are all wonderfully described and I absolutely adored the book. Even though I'm only eleven, I can recommend this book very highly. Anyone should read it.

This is one of my desert island titles. As in, if you were stranded on a desert island with only one (or three, or seven) book, what would it be. What are yours?

Pride and Prejudice is a beautifully written novel and is a must-read for all young girls (and boys). It provides a depth into 19th century English life, which really encourages the reader to sit back and reflect upon the differences and similarities between our lives and theirs. There is also a strong difference in the writing that - while it may take longer to grasp and get adjusted to - is refreshing.

Elizabeth is a strong, defiant character that is highly admirable to the reader. Each tale of every individual character is intricately woven and deeply enthralling. Austen's irony is prevalent throughout the book and was much appreciated. It was a novel I couldn't put down that sparked my interest for reading more classics, especially others by Jane Austen.

If you have the chance to read this book, I highly suggest it.

From the back cover.
Perhaps her best - loved, certainly her most well - known book, Pride and Prjudice is the classic romantic novel. Romance, misunderstandings, finding Mr. Right and finding out who's Mr. Wrong - Pride and Prejudice is as relevant today as it has ever been.
It's the enchanting and enduring story of Lizzy Bennet, one of literature's most engaging heroines, and proud Mr. Darcy, of true love, families, villains, and heroes and, of couse, pride and prejudice.
