In 1971, Roman Polanski spent a weekend with world champion driver Jackie Stewart as he attempted to win the Monaco Grand Prix. Polanski was given intimate access to Stewart's world for three days, both on the track and off. Weekend of a Champion gives an extraordinarily rare glimpse into the life of a gifted athlete at the height of his powers. Polanski and Stewart revisit the film and look back with both nostalgia and the temperance of time. Includes original 1971 film and features a newly-filmed postscript.

A beautiful documentary that captures the effort of British Formula One racing driver Jackie Stewart to compete in the 1971 Monaco Grand Prix and shows how it was during those days with cameos of Graham Hill, Francois Cevert, Joan Collins, Ringo Starr and Grace Kelly. It ends showing Polanski and Stewart reminiscing in present day, having a conversation about their friendship, the evolution of racing safety, hairstyles, life in general and remembering those who lost their lives or closely dodged death. It's so good that makes you feel you were there.

This is a fairly entertaining look at the 1971 Monaco GP from the point of view of Stewart. Its only real drawback is that we have to see that degraded pervert and rapist Mr. Polanski.
