This is two short stories in one.

Nora Bonesteel has always had the "gift" and when one of the "summer people" decides to stay for the Christmas holidays, Nora is asked to see if she can explain strange occurrences at their mansion.

On Christmas Eve Sheriff Arrowood has to arrest a man that lives in the hills of his county. With the coming snowstorm they want to get this done as soon as possible.

two basic sub-stories. the better one deals with a ghost. the other deals with two people that take advantage of a helpful kind police officer. supposedly they did that because they are old and sick. but they didn't ask for help honestly they lied and mislead. that is not what Christmas is supposed to be about.

After the extreme disappointment of the author's most recent books, it was a pleasure to read a story that got me hooked on her in the beginning. Let's hope she's figured that out too.

The setting for this novella is Christmas Eve in the Appalachian Mountains, with the local sheriff and a deputy setting out to arrest a hit and skip driver. Intertwined with that yarn is a plot about a Florida couple who usually only summer in the mountains, but decides to spend Christmas in the North, only to face the ordeal of thinking that their summer home is haunted. The story has a delightful and meaningful ending.
