The riveting follow-up to the New York Times bestselling The 5th Wave , hailed by Justin Cronin as "wildly entertaining."

How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others' ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven't seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Even though I rated the book with 5 stars, there isn't that much action as in the 1st book. The setting stayed quite the same. There weren't any major problems that peak your suspense level. Still I love how Mr Yancey had made the book in different points of views, it just makes the book that more incredible. The world is basically ending and everyone has a different opinion on what is happening. Other than that the series is great and I can't wait to read the last book, 'The Last Star'.

The 1st one was awesome! This one is just okay. Kind of hard to follow. Kind of drug out in places it didn't need to. Not near as bad as the 3rd one though..

I never got the hype behind the first book and couldn't believe when it became a movie and found this book even less entertaining.

If you ADORED the first book, give it a shot. If not, find something else to read.

I am getting very heartbroken by the turmoil happening in the romance department in this series. After the tragic event that happened in the previous book, I was overcome with sadness and really wished for the impossible. Then the impossible became possible, and I sort of calmed down. And THEN it happened again! This author sure knows how to make a person very frustrated. As soon as I moved on to a new ship, he sank it. Again. The suspense in the background was the only thing propelling me forward, and I really should get to reading the next one, if there is one available. I think from this point, I have enjoyed this trilogy a great amount. 4/5 stars

I liked this book!
I had waited so long to finally get this book out, I was expecting dissapointment, But instead I got the opposite of that!
A bit violent, yes, but still a really good read!

A little too violent for my taste and I didn't feel as if the story progressed well. However, I did feel some interest in the characters and their relationships, so I will probably read the next book in this series.

Though the writing is still way above par for YA this book didn't grab me as much as the first one. I liked Ringer getting a bit more attention and Cassie getting a bit less, one of the best parts about the first book is that the guys were just as prominent as the girls, but in this book guys took on the love interest role except for a few measly pages from Poundcake's point of view. The action is still great and the pace is fast but I'd struggle recommending this one to teens boys.

I have not been this enraptured with a young adult piece since I first read Twilight with my eldest daughter. I read book two in about two days but got a little frustrated with myself for waiting so long to read it. I am not sure how it got knocked down the queue so far since an alien apocalypse is even better than the zombie variety. On a bright note it is nice to realize that thanks to Jerry Garcia et al, colossal amounts of schedule 1, 2 and 3 pharmaceutical grade medications, and the 1980's in general I can read my favorite books over and over every few years and not remember a thing about them.

Another good read by Richard Yancey! I enjoyed this one as much as the first book in the series, The 5th Wave. On to the next book in the series, The Last Star!

Series plot doesn't advance much. Seems to just be a prelude to the final book.
