No one does contemporary Southern Gothic like Mr Woodrell. This collection of sordid and gritty tales add further to his ongoing project of mythologising the Ozark mountain country and its inhabitants. The stories are superbly crafted but be warned Woodrell's outlaws will leave you shocked and disturbed.

These short stories are set in the Ozarks with themes of madness and violence. Although a little uneven, some stories are truly excellent.
