Nicky's Family tells the nearly forgotten story of Nicholas Winton, an Englishman who organized the rescue of 669 Czech and Slovak children just before the outbreak of World War II. His actions were a secret, even from his family, until the BBC talk show "That's Life", devoted an episode to him with nearly everyone in the audience being one of the children he saved.

Very moving not only covers Sir Nicholas' refugee work in 1939 but the long-term impact it has had, including on young people in several countries who have been inspired by his example. The film ends with a powerful scene which I won't spoil by describing it.

Well done documentary, proving once again, that one person can change the world through helping individuals.

This is a 2011 Czech documentary directed by Matej Mináč.
It is an enthralling docu-drama that artfully tells the story of how Mr. Winton gave up a 1938 skiing holiday to answer a friend's request for help in Prague and didn't stop helping until the war's beginning stopped him.
He worked frantically, placing refugee children in English homes.
The story is told in vintage film clips with present-day interviews and the kind of dramatic re-creation video.

No "Schindler's List," but interesting and heartwarming.
