A NovelUnknown - 2004
In June, 1833, John James Audubon sailed for the treacherous passage between Labrador and Newfoundland, to draw the local birds. Govier explores this undocumented part of Audubon's life, and describes a meeting with Royal Navy Captain Wolsey, a man who is his virtual opposite, but who becomes his foil, his judge, and the recipient of long-held family secrets. Torn between lies and truth, Audubon finally realizes the paradox of his work - that the act of creation was also an act of destruction. 2002.
