Callie Conner runs away from home to escape shallow wealthy suitors who only want to marry her for her looks. She comes to stay with her aunt. Ezra Ryder also ends up working for Callie's aunt but makes himself look poorer than he does. He originally comes to the same town as Callie to find his cousin but then gets robbed. He ends up working for Callie's aunt to pay for a play to stay and eat. Then after he meets Callie - he decides to keep staying and not reveal that he is actually a wealthy businessman. When Callie finds out that Ezra is actually another wealthy businessman -- will she accept his deceit? Excellent book with some unexpected twists in it. Just when I thought it was almost coming to an end (like in the middle of the book) because both Callie and Ezra seem to like each other -- the author threw in some unexpected twists. It kept me wanting to continue to read.
