This book is a very comprehensive book and would be a very strong start to anybody interested in learning to sew women’s clothes. The book goes over basic sewing techniques, shows a basic pattern for many items (skirts blouses jackets), and basic modifications to those starting styles, including how to fit them to a body. As a seasoned sewer used to seeing only one style of thing offered , I am especially happy to see the compare/contrast pages of the different basic styles of skirts, styles of blouses, styles of dresses.

This book is a wonderful reference. I am a self-taught sewist with no patience for YouTube videos. I’ve recently decided to move beyond bags and conquer my fear of sewing apparel. I’ve been frustrated by how homemade-looking my garments have come out, and I searched and searched for a comprehensive guide to the nitty-gritty issues I’ve come across. This book covers so many things, beginner to intermediate/advanced! It has great photos and very clear instructions. I don’t plan to use the patterns contained in the book, but they are very versatile and wonderfully comprehensive.

This is another win for DK publishing.
Although it is not a Singer Sewing Refernce Book ( To me they are the top book out there) this comes as a good close second. With the pictures of the techniques and the added projects (Singer Sewing Reference dosen't have those) to help you cemment the technique in your mind.
