Sorely disappointing, a nice cast and with Fry you'd think it was a more better project than it actually is. Sad as he has the acting chops but so underutilized and the story is mediocre too.

A very sweet series. I wish there had been more than 3 seasons.

I love Fry, enjoyed him in every episode of Jeeves & Wooster. But could not stand this series. It was a waste of his immense talent. (Now, and with all due respect to the people who so enjoy criticizing the US and make it their daily bread, it is impossible to anyone with a modicum of intelligence to really believe an entire nation is made of complete idiots and unsophisticated people. And let us keep in mind that Americans watch foreign movies; yet more American movies are watched out of the US. Nuff said.)

Endearing characters. A satisfying mix of drama and humour with a mystery sub-plot that slowly develops from one episode to the next.

I love this series. Think it was great and wish they made more than just 3 seasons, or series.' Has everything and a must watch.

I like many British programs, and I liked Fry very much in Jeeves and Wooster - but I thought this show was boring and pretentious.

I love this series, but I lived in the UK for 8 years so perhaps I have a different TV palette. I think Fry is great in this and I find the story lines and writing very British. I will admit since moving back to the US, I find American TV pretty awful. So- this may not suit everyone's tastes.

Anyone who took the 2 seconds needed to read the movie’s “Description” understands this is definitely not an action movie. I watched action movies I thought boring. I watched comedies I thought boring. I watched dramas I thought boring. This is not an action movie, nor comedy, nor drama; I thought it boring—despite having a great actor as the main character. If you want to watch Fry at his best, watch the series Jeeves & Wooster. (I find it interesting the constant belittling of Americans as ignorant viewers who can only stand action movies. And especially interesting is the quoting of James Bond, implying Americans could only stand an action movie. What is ironic is that Bond is a British creation… Considering how these ignoramuses Americans are generally the first responders in any calamity around the world, I can only explain this fixation as an inferiority complex.)

A disappointing, mediocre series, that misused Fry's talent. Kingdom's hysterical sister made me feel like slapping her back to sanity! I watched the first episode then couldn't finish the second. Yes, it's most certainly a "PICTURE POSTCARD TOWN"--but that doesn't make it a less dull program. (And what's with the belittling of Americans, simply because people don't like this dull series?! This obsession certainly stems from an inferiority complex! And, by the way, James Bond is a BRITISH creation!)

reading the other comments, i find it very sad that some american viewers cannot seem to deal with gentle, intelligent british tv shows. sorry, but not everything needs to be blood & guts shoot-em-ups. ermadick below hits this nail on the head. typical clever & entertainging brit tv show. watch it & enjoy. like the description says, hes a COUNTRY solicitor in a PICTURE POSTCARD TOWN, not james bloody bond!
