RE: copy #31336088022778. On "The Soul of Genius" there is a disk defect at 1:22:08 that will not let you finish the episode.

I thought with the death of John Thaw that the series was ended, however Inspector Lewis is new, fun, exciting and as interesting as Morse ever was. Laurence Fox is wonderful. They make a great team.

Four terrific, although too depressing episodes with Kevin Whately starring as Lewis, the man who stood up to Morse and matched the old master for tenacity and thinking ability. The British certainly have a great series here. Actor Laurence Fox does a sort of parody of Morse who was always more educated than people could imagine. Fine acting and good writing. The only problem is that murder is always depressing, never enervating.

Four tales about crimes of passion and revenge: "The Soul of Genius", "Generation of Vipers", "Fearful Symmetry" and "The Indelible Stain". The final episode featured Anne Rand, the head of the Criminology Department of the university. I could not help but laughed out loud during a heated exchange of digs between Hathaway and Anne concerning the serial affairs between her husband, also a professor, and his students. In Hathaway's words: "Robert (Anne's Husband) is a philanderer, not a killer. Anne Rand, on the other hand, must rank as one of the most ruthlessly ambitious people I think I've ever met." Great season, as always with the series. Terrific scenery, interesting plots, and great acting, especially Kevin Whately!

Will we get a series called Hathaway? I would watch anything with Laurence Fox in it!

This show keeps getting better and better. I only wish they'd do more of them! To the reviewer above that made a comment on too many scenes of people smoking...geez, people smoke, lots of people. Are you serious?

British police drama at its best. Hope this series will never end.My only qualm is too many scenes with people smoking.

H: " ...And the smarter ones get it and comply. And the less smart?"
A: "I kill them."

H: "Do you think this is a joke?"
A: I think it's embarrassing and humiliating that an academic of my statue should be put through this indignity by a man she's stood by and nurtured for 20 years

H: "You repeatedly insist that you're an unlikely suspect because of your standing ..."
A: At this moment, my instinct is to reach across the table, shake you by the lapels, and demand that you stop being so ridiculous. But look, despite my 'very strong motive,' I'm perfectly able to control myself.

Anne Rand: “I don’t think you’re seeing the whole picture, Sergeant.”
H: “Perhaps because it hasn’t been framed very well, Professor.”

Rand: “You think what you like.”
H: “Thank you. I tend to.”
