Add a CommentHer 4th studio album and not one mediocre song. As everyone had pointed out, there is "Raise Hell" and the rest are very good country/pop/rock that "Keep Your Heart Young." And just as The Beatles' "When I Am Sixty Four", there is "100" on love and devotion:
When I'm blowing out the candles
And when people start to sing
I will always cross my fingers tight
I'll remember everything
...
If I live to be one hundred
If I get it through my head
I always think about you
And I have to close my eyes
If I live to be one hundred
Will I ever cross your mind
...

I saw Brandi right before this album was released and Raise Hell is a killer live song. (Favs: Hard Way Home, Raise Hell)
Recorded in a cabin up in Woodinville, this album starts off with a song that feels like ... well, a recording studio in a cabin in the woods - a new spin on an old tradition. "Hard Way Home" blends folk-rock traditions and modern rock sensibilites in ways that feel both comfortingly familiar and intriguingly innovative. Not all of the songs on this album live up to the promise of that first track, but those that do are pretty killer. After "Give Up The Ghost", an album that seemed not to want to stray too far from conventionality, it's good to hear Brandi Carlile making something that feels a little more experimental.
