This is a excellent and practical guide with a long-range view towards not just gardening but also to securing our food supply and returning it to our human scale. Deppe faces the facts in front of us and gives good advice about how to adapt when conditions change.

just an excellent book,author gives her considered opinion on a host questions concerning,soil compost, chickens ducks and even types of vegatables especially the climate of oregon and how to prepare your self for the good as well for the bad. A great book for the beginning as well as for the experienced gardener

Fantastic book. A great place to start for new gardeners, with enough depth that everyone can learn from. Will have to buy my own copy, I've checked this out so often.
