First released in 1931, "The Public Enemy" is a great gangster film. It has remarkable vintage images of Chicago: a horse drawn beer wagon, streetcars and vintage cars. A modern motion picture about the Prohibition Era in the 1920s would probably cost too much to produce. "The Public Enemy" depicts what is required for survival in a "dog eat dog" world. I would rate this film at 4.0 stars.
