It is refreshing to read Piven's work, whose relevance today is so vital.

I especially enjoyed the review of the unemployed workers' movement of the Depression Years. Most of this history I was unaware of. One is concerned of a repeat of these clashes and organizing--tho of the debt-laden students and workers-- in this time of huge income inequality. The similarities are striking.

When the guillotine and/or bombs are used, they tend to win!
