Dorothea Benton Frank writes as if you were a good friend looking over her shoulder and privileged to hear the happenings of her family, business, and personal life. Some of the zingers make you feel like you are part of the Carolina Low County; sassy, honest, and sometimes a bit naughty. A great read to pass the time and an enjoyable getaway invitation to the Tall Pines Plantation home to listen in on all the family drama one summer could bring.

The sequel to previous novels, but very satisfying.
She is an excellent author.

When Caroline Wimbley Levine returned to Tall Pines Plantation, she never expected to make peace with long-buried truths about herself and her family. The Queen of Tall Pines, her late mother, was a force of nature, but now she is gone, leaving Caroline and the rest of the family uncertain of who will take her place. In the lush South Carolina countryside, old hurts, betrayals, and dark secrets will surface, and a new generation will rise along the banks of the mighty Edisto River. From the hardcover edition.
