Skeptical fan' Brian Tuohy believes that the hugely profitable sports leagues have covered up the truth behind their operations, that professional sports are not all about fair play but sometimes corrupt interactions with mass media and players in the sports machine. And Tuohy can back these charges with an explicitly-cited history of backroom dealings in football, baseball, basketball, hockey and car racing. THE FIX IS IN provides the shadow history of the sports world, and the way it interacts with media and gambling operations.'

This book was very interesting and enjoyable to read. I checked this book out when I was in the process of writing my speech on media manipulation. It provided me with an abundance of useful information, and I didn't feel bored or uninterested while reading through the chapters. This book goes into detail of how the media manipulates the situations of famous and popular sports players around the world. It gave me information as to how the media hides the fixed life of sports, the gambling, as well as doping. It was a different book compared to what I usually check out from the Hamilton Public Library and read. I would encourage people to read this book if they are prepared to read and discover how the media and so many people around us continue to take advantage of us, in order to make money etc. Once again, this book provided me with a lot of useful information, and when I watch sports, I always think and relate back to this book! I would rate it a 4/5.
