I was told to read Anastasia, but I guess I picked up the wrong book to read instead. I would still recommend this to others, if they like historical fiction with romance. The last grand duchess of Russia, Anastasia is rumoured to have survived her fate. I personally do not believe this, but my friend wants to. Supposedly, there are still descendants of the Russian Royal Family still alive today? Perhaps, but there isn't much proof for these speculations, no? I didn't really extremely like this author's writing style, but I guess the story behind it was interesting enough. 4/5 stars.

Honestly, I didn't really like this book too much. I thing the author's other book, "The Musician's Daughter", was great but this book was a let down. The plot wasn't all that exciting or interesting. I know it's historical fiction and needs to follow history but what about the undocumented parts of the Romanovs' lives? Those parts could have been easily used to make the story more interesting.

This book was an interesting portrayal of Anastasia Romanova. I have done quite a bit of research concerning the Romanov's through the years. The author was very accurate in her facts. The character of Sasha, who is obviously a fictional character, was a bit extreme since Anastasia never really had a romance like the one portrayed in this book. I was glad though that this book made clear at the end that the remains of all the Romanov Family have been identified.

I ordered this, and I thought it was good. But there were a lot of mistakes on the history.

I've read dozens of books about Anastasia, and although this one was accurate it was kind of boring and repetitive. Not my favorite rendition.

I hated the ending.... it didn't feel like the novel was complete. And also, it would've made for a much better historical fiction if the author had allowed Anastasia to "disappear" (don't want to really give anything away to those of you who haven't read it yet), because, after all, Anastasia's remains have never been found to this day! In the end, it just became boring and predictable. The love affair, although semi-exciting at first, also turned sour with time... I wouldn't recommend reading it.

I was really excited to read this book but when I got more and more into it I became disappointed. I thought the story would revolve more around the love story, or that the glimpses of war would be exciting but it wasn't. I don't regret reading the book but I probably will not read it again.
