In this poignant meditation on the strength and fragility of female friendship, Mariana Pasternak chronicles her life-defining relationship with Martha Stewart, its tragic demise, and its lessons for us all. The Best of Friends is at once an honest, personal, and never-before-seen look at Martha Stewart as a person; an inside look at the lives of the rich and famous; and an inspiring story of feminine kinship.

Enjoyed the read about how Martha and Mariana shared vacations, friends, dinners, and private jets. I also had a chuckle about how she couldn't remember who had said what when it came time to testify at Martha's court hearing, but, my goodness, she sure can throw out quotes from the books, novels, movies, play, friends and scenes from paintings to provide support for a point she makes. She can even remember the names of wines drunken at dinners with the rich and famous.....many years later after the fact. She lived a lifestyle that she could probably only imagine had she not been befriended by Martha. A curious friendship.
