An original hardcover graphic novel that tells the story of one very dark night in Gotham City--from the creative team behind the graphic novel LEX LUTHOR- MAN OF STEEL.

The Joker has been mysteriously released from Arkham Asylum, and he's none to happy about what's happened to his Gotham City rackets while he's been "away." What follows is a harrowing night of revenge, murder and manic crime as only The Joker can deliver it, as he brutally takes back his stolen assets from The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc and others.

Brian Azzarello brings to THE JOKER all the visceral intensity and criminal insight that has made his Vertigo graphic novel series 100 BULLETS one of the most critically-acclaimed and award-winning series in all of comics.

Long live the memory of Cesar Romero!

Amazing comic Joker is still the man all time. I hope the new Joker movie that comes out is somewhat close to this, but regardless this is a great crazy story that if Joker had his own comic this would probably be how it would be!

I'm sure the writer thought his dialogue was very clever, but, it's haphazardly worded, oddly strung together, and, often, even confusing.
The artwork isn't that great, and the story is pointless and easily forgettable.

Wait... Did that guy down there say Ledger's Joker wasn't very good?

Gorgeous art that moves back adn forth between paintings and more traditional comic panels. Joker's design here harkens back to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. Storyline is only so-so, however. Definitely dark, though...

Horrible. Poorly drawn, meaningless violence, mindless plot. Don't bother.

This was good, but very, very dark. The "new" joker (a la Heath Ledger) is not at all like the joker that I grew up with (a la Jack Nicholson). This is NOT recommended for children.
