The Writings of Jim Morrison, Volume II

The celebrated lead singer of The Doors, Jim Morrison is a legend of rock and roll. The American Night presents Morrison's previously unpublished work in its truest form. With their nightmarish images, bold associative leaps, and volcanic power of emotion, these works are the unmistakable artifacts of a great, wild voice and heart.

I couldn't read all of Jim's work from this book because a lot of it was sexually explicit but what I did read was cosmic. It really took me to another place. You don't have to get high to read this and fully understand it (being stoned wouldn't hinder your understanding though) just play some dark song by the Doors (like Riders on the Storm, People are strange, The End, The Crystal Ship, Moonlight Drive, etc will get the mood right) and open yourself up to Jim's soul; it will be the most cosmic feeling you'll ever get the pleasure of experiencing.
