This is an absolutely beautifully written memoir of a woman in the 20th century. Ellen was born in England in 1910 and emigrated to the Canadian West as an infant. She was a young wife and mother durring the depression. She finally left her sham of a mariage and made a new life for herself in Ontario.
I really feel I understand my Grandmother and Mother a little better. There were so many fewer options for women.
