The second best Christmas movie ever. Three convicts escape from Devil's Island, not to mention the cobra. They decide to rob a French family, but then stay to help them out instead. Black humor and cynicism abound. Favorite line, by the underrated Aldo Ray: "You scare me." Basil Rathbone shines, and Ustinov is always great. Remade in 1989 with De Niro.

Meet the 3 Stooges.... Oops!... I mean, the 3 convicts of 1955's "We're No Angels" - That's Curly (Aldo Ray), Larry (Peter Ustinov), and Moe (Humphrey Bogart).

Set in the year 1895 (seriously) - "We're No Angels" has these 3 stooges.... I mean, convicts (who are plotting their escape from Devil's Island) literally parading around town in their prison garb for everyone to see. Like - Duh!

Containing dialogue that was loaded with the most callous cynicism imaginable - I thought that of the 3 actors playing the lead roles - It was, undoubtedly, Bogart who was the most painfully annoying one when it came to trying to be funny.

Like - Believe me - His performance was absolutely cringe-worthy.

Anyway - The only character in "We're No Angels" who won his stars for comic effect was, of course, Adolph, the snake.

Billed as a comedy, this is both terribly unfunny and painfully boring.

Light, charming 1955 comedy about escaped cons on Devil's Island who help out a family of shopkeepers. Yeah, don't think hard about the plausibility of the story and enjoy the performances of Humphrey Bogart (who does nicely in a comic role), Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Ray as the convicts. Basil Rathbone, Leo G. Caroll, and Joan Bennett co-star. Directed by Michael Curtiz, who worked with Bogart on "Casablanca." Sort of remade in 1989 with Robert De Niro and Sean Penn.

Nice movie ... almost "Disney-esque'. Bogie carries the film, but he is ably supported by Peter Ustinov, Aldo Ray, Leo G. Carroll & Basil Rathbone as his foil. Not Bogie's best, but that is pretty high standard. Still an amusing picture to watch with the family.

What a great surprise. Didn't know it was a Christmas movie. Fun to see Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov in a comedy. It's a musical ?? The three even sing a song in it.
