When London art student Ben Willis goes through a painful breakup, he develops insomnia. To kill time, he starts working the late-night shift at the local supermarket. There he meets a colorful cast of characters, all of whom have their own means of dealing with the boredom of an eight-hour-shift. Ben imagines freezing time, which allows him to see the beauty of the everyday world and the people inside it - especially Sharon, the quiet checkout girl, who just may hold the answer to resolving Ben's insomnia.

Surprised with all the sexy but artsy moments as imaged by a nerdy student who became immune to sleep after a romantic breakup. Available in Netflix.

Even though this film is a bit long and whiney in places, I enjoyed it because the good outweighs the shortfalls. 8 of 10 stars.

It's all about time:

You can speed it up. You can slow it down. You can even freeze a moment, but you can't rewind time. You can't undo what is done.
=====
Love is there if you want it to be. You just have to see that it's wrapped in beauty and hidden away in between the seconds of your life. If you don't stop for a minute, you might miss it.
=====
She caught the wrong second of a two-second story.
=====
The bad news is that time flies. The good news... is that you're the pilot.
=====
I wanted to freeze time. I wanted to savor that moment, to live in that moment for a week. But I couldn't stop it, only slow it. And before I knew it, she was gone. After the door closed I felt like the last person on Earth.
