City girl Calla Fletcher attempts to reconnect with her estranged father, and unwittingly finds herself torn between her desire to return to the bustle of Toronto and a budding relationship with a rugged Alaskan pilot in this masterful new romance from acclaimed author K.A. Tucker.

Calla Fletcher was two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla's father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when her father reaches out to inform her that his days are numbered, Calla knows that it's time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional--dear God--outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can't help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this new subarctic environment, Jonah--the quiet, brooding, and proud Alaskan pilot who keeps her father's charter plane company operational--can't imagine calling anywhere else home. And he's clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she's too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. As time passes, she unexpectedly finds herself forming a bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it's replaced by friendship--or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried--and failed at--years ago.

It's a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

A lush, beautifully written novel with a strong sense of place, "The Simple Wild" is a moving story about a city woman who finds herself -- and love -- while braving the rural Alaskan wilderness.

Well written with believable dialogue & likeable/lovable characters. An interesting storyline set in Alaska & Toronto: I liked the contrast between Calla & the bush pilot's story vs her mother & father's story. I'm looking for more by this author.

Without a doubt, one of my favorite romance novels. The main themes were love, strife, death, relationships, acceptance and adventure. I loved how the characters were polar opposites from each other in the beginning, and came together in the end for love (maybe predictable, but in the best way possible). The sexual tension throughout the book was sit on the edge of your seat intense, and the sexy scenes were nothing short of perfection. This book had me laughing and by the end crying. Could not put it down! AND the author is writing #2 for March 2020 release. Can't wait!

A fun, predictable romance based in Alaska and Toronto Canada.

I loved this book! It is a romantic story of two people who are very different and don't really like each other. I laughed at the funny parts, and I cried at the more serious places in the story. I loved the descriptions of beautiful Alaska and the life ordinary people in this part of the world lead. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a contemporary story with strong romantic elements where the romance doesn't overpower the rest of the writing.

I found this book haunting me days after reading it. The characters were 3D, very relatable. The heroine left her very comfortable life in Toronto to visit her father. She hasn't seen her father since she was a toddler and feels very resentful toward him. She visits because she has been told he has cancer. From the moment she sets foot in Alaska, she begins to change her attitude, and her life. The change is so subtle, she doesn't realize what is happening.

Give this book a read, I think you will find it enjoyable and thought provoking.

I thought this was a stunning and very well-written novel. Nothing ground breaking, but the romance and emotion of the book resonated very strongly with me and were communicated very effectively. I also loved each character and the setting. I absolutely adored this book. I will be looking out for K.A. Tucker novels to read more of her books for certain!

What a fabulous read! Great characters, impressive story development, witty, poignant, and so romantic. I'm in love with a Yeti. This is a fish out of water tale that is at times heartbreaking, but tempered with witty banter and crazy antics. I wouldn't say that it's an angsty read; more like secondary angst. All around, it was a wonderfully written and unputdownable story that in turns made me smile and then shed a few tears.

An absolutely wonderful, heart warming story, was hard to put down the best book by this author that I have read, very down to earth.
