Perhaps not her strongest effort but still light years beyond most of today's writers. Fred Vargas is, to me, very similar to the strong British mystery writers. Clever plots, believable characters (sometimes) and just a generally interesting way with a phrase. I only wish my French was strong enough to read the originals as they sometimes seem dated by the time we get the translated version.

Always a good read.

This one was a bit of a disappointment compared to Vargas' other wonderful creations. Still worth my time, but not as compelling as some of the others.
