Just such a disappointment with much of the season tearing apart character development and backstory for no real payoff.

I have mixed feelings about Sherlock. Some aspects are really intriguing. Some are unbelievable. Like I'm supposed to believe Mary Watson as an assassin? Also the resurgence of James Moriarty when he obviously died in a final way. Probably my least favorite version of Moriarty from all the Sherlock Holmes adaptations. At first I found the second episode to be incredibly over dramatic and hard to watch. But by the ending I was satisfied with the introduction of a new major villain. The last episode was perhaps one of my favorite episodes if not favorite episode of all time. Overall, a weak beginning that leads into the strongest ending so far.

Excellent season, ended well for a series finale though with room if they decide to continue. All three stories are very well done. Sad, funny, thoroughly enjoyable. The best season yet. A must for Sherlock fans. Episode 1 is sad (can't say anything more without spoiling it). Episode 2 is rather funny, not plot wise so much as just little things. Episode 3 is astounding, and very tense at times. Very, very good.

Totally agree. So absolutely stupid and unbelievable. Hope it is the last series.

Rated 3/10. I found these 3 episodes to be absolutely dreadful, compared to seasons 1 and 2. Episode 3 almost appears it could be a finale, and if so, probably a good thing.

Though I felt tepid about Series One, for me Series Two really took off with more compelling stories laced with dollops of humour. Since then, it has gone up its own backside (English for full of itself.) Now it gives us soulless cleverness and drawn-out, over-complicated stories. Worst of all are the knowing winks to the audience with the producers' use of cast member's families - Cumberbatch's mum and dad, Freeman's then-wife, and lots of people the cast has worked with in other productions - "Ooh look, she was Ophelia to Benedict's Hamlet!"

Must have cost a fortune to make but the end-product is glossy yet empty.
