This collection of short stories is a very pleasant way to discover new writers. My "to read list" is several lines longer. A must for anyone that likes Jane Eyre

I was disappointed by many of the stories.

Enjoyed a variety of writers' thoughts and interpretations on the theme to be explored.

There is a bit of overkill on the market on Jane Eyre-inspired fiction, but this is unique in that it is short story format and is not limited to the Jane Eyre story.

Much shorter than a spin-off novel, you will enjoy stories by favourite modern authors as well as some new discoveries.

Whether you read them all or just a few, there is something in this collection for every taste.

I'm sorry to quibble, but I really must correct an error. "Reader, I married him." is the first line of the last chapter of Jane Eyre, not the opening line of the novel. Yes, I think it makes a difference.

Twenty-one women writers celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charlotte Bronte's birth in this collection of short stories. Not all stories are equally enjoyable, but most are really good.

What would you answer be if in Jane Eyre's position?

I love anything Bronte and am a huge fan of short story collections, so the concept of this book, based on the famous quote " Reader, I married him" from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre immediately appealed to me. As with any anthology, some of these short stories, written by twenty different women authors, were little gems that I loved. Other stories I enjoyed in a lesser way and some just held no appeal for me. Overall I enjoyed the collection, but feel it important to point out to avid Jayne Eyre enthusiasts that not all the stories relate directly to the book, or even to Charlotte Bronte, but rather explore the broader theme of marriage and the idea of romance and marriage.
