After being appointed the dictator of Freedonia, Rufus T. Firefly proceeds to bring the mythical nation to a halt by showing up late and insulting everyone at his inauguration. Hoping to oust the unfit new leader, two spies are sent from the neighboring Sylvania. Soon enough, war is declared between the two nations with outrageous results. Including Groucho's famous mirror scene and final battle scene, it remains as entertaining and relevant today as when first released in 1933.

One of the odder of the Marx Brother's films, if that isn't redundant. Lots of familiar lines. The musical numbers are weaker than in other Marx Brother's productions.

There's honestly something to be said for humor that stands the test of time, and "Duck Soup" is as funny today as it was in 1933. The speed of Groucho's line delivery is nothing short of magnificent.

I really enjoyed the bit where Chico and Harpo dress up as Groucho, they are pretty much indistinguishable.

Duck Soup is one of the finest films the Marx Brothers ever created. It has some wonderful lines and very memorable moments. If you are ever in doubt as to why the Marx Brothers are as esteemed as they are, watch Duck Soup. It will have you rolling on the floor laugh. That is, of course, if farcical and absurd humor is your thing.
