"This is not a test" -- every New Yorker's worst nightmare is about to become a reality. New Yorkers aren't easily intimidated, but someone is doing their best to scare them, badly: why? After two inexplicable high-tech attacks, the city that never sleeps is on edge. Detective Michael Bennett, along with his old pal, the FBI's Emily Parker, have to catch the shadowy criminals who claim responsibility -- but they're as good at concealing their identities as they are at wreaking havoc. In the wake of a shocking assassination, Bennett begins to suspect that these mysterious events are just the prelude to the biggest threat of all. Soon he's racing against the clock, and against the most destructive enemy he's faced yet, to save his beloved city -- before everyone's worst nightmare becomes a reality.

Add a CommentDetective Michael Bennett has his work cut out for him. Someone is killing people and wants to kill Michael Bennett as well. When his family is involved, he will do anything to protect them. Another very good book in this series.
Michael Bennett series and a great book!
Entertaining story line and gripping. I give it a 3.5 stars because I found the whole Mary Catherine character and story line pointless and it was a bit weird with the religion bits, which I also felt that it detracted from the story line instead of add to it. If the whole point of that was to show the reader how pious the protagonist was, it was a bit off putting/in-your-face.
Michael Bennett books are my fave James Patterson books!! This was exciting and fast paced!
I found this book boring. I finally had to give up by page 130, and close it. I certainly do not recommend it to other readers.
Good book, I recommend it !
A good story line ,great
characters and enjoyable
hero. This one may be a little over the top but still fun.
Conclusion was a let down.
This was a fast read. Because James Patterson is writing with so many authors now he is churning books out fairly quickly and they don't seem to be as good as his earlier works. However, this was a fairly good read.
I love James Patterson and I also mostly enjoy his collaborations, but this story...I just couldn't find myself interested in the storyline. I like mysteries...not so big on terrorism themes...the only part I wanted to know anything at all about was the personal story of the main character and so I literally skipped around thru the book and read only those parts and skipped thru to read the end and I NEVER EVER do that! I can't recommend Alert and again, I am a huge fan of James Patterson and it sad to even write this! I was glad I didn't force myself to read the entire story. I like books I can't put down and this book I kept putting down. :(
