Set in downtown New York in 1900, the Knickerbocker Hospital faces a major upheaval due to poor finances and an exodus of wealthy patients. The one remaining star is Dr. Thackery, who along with the hospital staff of surgeons, nurses and other personnel must struggle to keep both themselves and the hospital going. The Knick provides a fascinating lens into some of the major issues of the time--still relevant today--including race relations, class distinctions, rapid and unregulated changes to medicine, drug addiction and more.

Clive Owen is one of my favorite actors. However I could not stand this show because it was too gory. If you like super graphic blood, guts, and other internal body parts, this may very well be your cup of tea. If this is what you get with premium cable, then premium cable is on its way out.

One of the worst. least entertaining dvd's I have waded through in the past 20 years. It gets my lowest ratings...nothing but gore.

This is a very enjoyable view of early 20th century medical practice. However, all the characters have serious personal problems which provides the fun. Lots of blood and sex and some good acting, especially by Clive Owen.
