40 years ago, artist Alex Carver bought a run-down apartment in a sketchy part of Brooklyn with his wife, schoolteacher Ruth. Today, their neighborhood is now very hip and their apartment worth a small fortune. The now- retired Ruth and Alex are still as much in love as ever, but they have let Ruth's niece Lily (Cynthia Nixon), a real estate agent, list their property to see what the market might bear. On the eve of their open house, the Brooklyn Bridge is rumored to be under a terrorist attack, sending the media into a frenzy and people's attitudes about living in New York. While Dorothy, the Carver's beloved dog is having expensive treatment at their vet, Ruth convinces Alex to go apartment hunting in Manhattan, where they miraculously come across an ideal place they might actually be able to afford. As the world around them seems to mirror their own chaos and confusion, Ruth and Alex realize the same bond of love that has kept them together all these years will allow them to see their way through this crazy weekend as well -- Rotten Tomatoes
A married couple's attempts at selling their New York apartment don't quite go as planned over the course of one crazy weekend.

While not the greatest movie ever, and one I do not remember ever seeing in advertised at a theater, it is pleasant enough with a couple of proven actors. It has a couple of themes i think. The first is growing older in a contented way and the second is the complete difference in generations. I am in Keaton's and Freeman's generation and glad to be there rather than in the younger one. Yes, I know not all 30-somethings are as rude and condescending as the ones here.

Cute, romantic aging couple in transition, deals with some challenging issues. Diane Keaton playing her typical ditsy self of being confused and confident while Morgan Freedman tries to be a supportive husband. Movie moves along with some cute parts and realistic view of buying real estate in a hot market.

Two likeable actors, and one quite boring, shallow movie. Frankly, it was hard to believe the chemistry between these two - they only kiss twice (albeit married 40 years.) It is a piece of forgettable fluff - and it takes place in my home town of NYC. Best actor in the movie? The dog.

Rated 6/10. Freeman was very good in this, which is why I gave it a 6. This movie was above average, but the plot was a bit thin.

Delightful movie although I was getting a little bored around the middle of this. Too much of the back and forth dealing and a little too much chatter from the real estate lady.

Good acting, good story. Very enjoyable film dealing with a real life dilemma that many end up struggling with. There comes a time in life when - for whatever reasons, in this case getting old - you have to consider leaving the home you have lived in for many years. I especially enjoyed the portrayal of the real estate agent. I know there are good ones but too many are like this. And no gratuitous sex or violence!

I enjoyed this film. An older couple, still in love, and what direction they take in their autumn years. Worth watching if you enjoy a simple love story that takes place in New York. Very good acting and production qualities. Not high action, but still a good story.

I really enjoyed this movie. Nice relaxing movie about an older couple still very much in love. They come to realize what they have is more than just a home.

This movie would not play in my DVD player. Possibly why there are no other reviews for this movie so far..??

Slow moving, not your typical Keaton or Freeman movie... I almost stopped watching it as I continued to wait to see when something was going to happen... I did watch till the end in spite of wanting to turn it off... The last 10 minutes made it almost worth watching... Not my favorite Diane Keaton movie... Acting was very good though and a good story.

Alex: All day we've been throwing numbers back and forth, like they don't mean anything. 850, 900, 950. Sugar, we're not rich. We need to get a grip on reality here.
Ruth: I know. You're right. It's just... I wish we could give it to them.
Alex: I wish a lot of things. I wish we could give our apartment to whoever needed it.
I wish we could give it to that lady on the bed and her little girl. Most of all, I wish I could run up and down the damn stairs, like I used to, for the rest of my life.
Alex: Those few days were like one big roller coaster ride. And, like most rides, we ended up where we began. Still, it reminded us who we are. What we have. It was worth it, if only for that.
