William (AKA Whiskey) and Charlie were identical twins and inseparable in their boyhood. It seemed to Charlie, though, the Whiskey was better at everything, and more popular, without really even trying. Everything came easy to him including beautiful women and career/financial success. A rift fueled by jealosy and resentment developed and grew until several years passed without their speaking to each other. Then Whiskey was hit by a car and stayed comatose for weeks, with dim chance of survival let alone recovery. Charlie began to see himself and his relationship with Whiskey more clearly during this time. Rosa, Whiskey's surprisingly down-to-earth plain-talking wife and Juliet, Whiskey's gorgeous ex-girlfriend who was attracted to Charlie's good heart and became his live-in girlfriend, persuaded Charlie to explore and confront his feelings about himself and about his brother (as well as about his previously unknown half-brother who showed up unexpectedly, to boot!) Whiskey did awaken from the coma and slo-o-only begin recovery, and love reigned amongst everyone.
It was a quick read, sort of in the YA vein. It tugged at my heartstrings but didn't affect me deeply or spark any insight.
